During our chemistry unit students can use myebook to create a tool to teach younger students about their element and their element family.
Unfortunately my students and I found it difficult to upload necessary graphics to their pages.

Although the product of MyeBooks is great, the learning curve is long. I would have a hard time justifying the use of this resource because of the amount of time it takes to produce a quality product.
In sixth grade I teach about earthquakes. One of the assignments is to describe the events and feelings from the prespective of a sixth grade student during the New Madrid, Missouri earthquakes of 1811 and 1812. The first two earthquakes happened in the morning of Dec 16, 1811. The third was January 23, 1812 and the fourth was Feb 7, 1812. Each page could represent the events and feelings caused by each earthquake.
During the motion graphing students produce 4 different types of position vs time graphs. Each graph is accompanied by a story that explains the the motion. I walk my dog at 2 m/s for 10 seconds. Each in the MyeBook could show a position vs time graph and a story to accompany it.

My second project using myebooks could come as an incorporation into another computer project. Our Hanging with Friends WISE project has students write an energy story. This story could be completed using myebooks which would give students an opportunity to enhance their story with graphics and perhaps even graphs.

Although the finished product of MyEbooks is neat, the amount of time that it takes to learn how to use the program is BIG! It doesn't follow my "technology intuition" and I had a difficult time figuring it out. From this experience, I can't imagine how long it would take to teach 30 5th graders how to use it.
The learning curve aside... if I were to use it, I would definitely have my students put some of their creative writing stories into Ebook form. We wrote a folktale earlier in the year and it would be fabulous to have all of the students' stories online in one place.
State history... fifth graders do a state report and it would be great to have one aspect of their report in Ebook format. They could do the "how the state got its name" in ebook format and present it to the class with their state report.

I'm in agreement with what other people are saying - that it takes too much time, is cumbersome, the learning curve is too high.
If I were to use it I think I'd use it in two different ways - my history students do a travel project at the end of the year and they could use My Ebook for that and they could also use it to for the "World Leaders' Talkshow" project that we do - I think that would be a fun way to use it.

I'm with Amy and everyone else, it has been hard trying to make my own ebook. I am easily frustrated with using it.
I do an author study, where students research and present on an author they like, and they can see what books are created in their honor or they may even see one created by the author to promote a new book (like the one on my widget).
Another way I could use it is to have student create a picture book of the novel they just read and in the process, they can show me how to effectively use this site!

I found that the process of using MyEbook was very time consuming and needed some built-in practice time, especially on the first book being made, but the product was pretty cool. I wish there were more shortcuts that could be taken, like using something that was already formatted or uploaded faster. With my third graders we could create a class book where each student has there own page that is all about them. Parents would love to download or even buy it as a keepsake at the end of the year. Another lesson suggestion is a book about the solar system or planets. One of our areas of study is the solar system and space, and I think the kids would get a kick out of seeing their words put into an actual book with pictures.
