Please share a live URL to the Web 2.0 site that you will present on. If the tour is brief because of the simple nature of the site, feel free to share two sites.
If visiting and using the site requires us to join, let us know that in advance so we can be signed up before class starts to save time.
I will present on Twitter plus many other sites that are not chosen by students as time permits.
You need to join Twitter to use it. http://twitter.com You can find me at http://twitter.com/gibb0

Heidi and I are also unclear on how open source software is different from a web 2.0 application. We have many questions, however, we are toying with the idea, if we are in the right toy store, of presenting on Voicethread.com. If this works, we licked it and no one else can take it. Nanny nanny nanny.

http://www.classnotesonline.com OK, I switched again! I set up a fake website, and I think that will be enough for you to get a feel for the site. I have been looking for a replacement for edline, and I think I may have finally found it.
https://www.brainpop.com/ I'm not sure how this is a web 2.0, but I've been SUPER interested in it for a long time, and am thinking about asking our site council to pay for a school subscription. If anyone has any feedback, I would appreciate any info ASAP. Thanks! You can sign up for a free trial before coming to class, if you don't already have access. It sounds like EMily will be presenting on Branpop.
I just want to know how the computer tasted when you licked it, mine was a little bland.

I'm looking at Open Office. Will hopefully tie in nicely to our (Joe, Carleen, Alex) IS project.

I will be linking to quizlit. It helps you create vocabulary flash cards. I wrote Chapter 15 notes (extra chapter) with it.

I would like to present Survey Monkey. Steve has used this tool to survey staff about various issues. I used 2 years ago at NUMMI when the UAW would ask its members to vote on issues. When used in its secure version, Survey Monkey is a great tool to survey and vote when your staff is spread out or cannot meet in one place. In addition, staff can post their comments so people can read it instead of listening to the random comments of others during staff members.

I have chosen Flux Time http://www.fluxtime.com/ It's an animation website with lots of applications for education - even at the younger grade levels...

I saw that Andrea was looking at Brainpop. Since I am very familiar with the site and have a year long membership, I will present Brainpop. It is worth signing up for the free trial if you can show some to your students at the same time to see their reaction. It is pretty amazing!

www.trackclass.com - This site allows students to post their notes, assignments, and due dates. It also has a calender that is compatible with iCal, Outlook, and other calender software. The information can also be accessed via their cell phones.
www.passback.com - This a secure storage site for all of a person's website and e-mail passwords. I think this would be a good place for students, and their parents, to put their unchangeable PowerSchool user names and passwords. This site has the potential of reducing the number of "I forgot my PowerSchool password" responses.

I have two sites that I am excited about.
The first is Museum box http://museumbox.e2bn.org/creator/ I think it would be cool to design a lesson in a way that makes students find primary sources on a subject (Japanese Internment), and be able to make a museum box around the subject.
I also really like ProProf http://www.proprofs.com/quiz-school/ I like this quiz creation site because 1. It is free 2. I can create 5 answer choices 3. I can embed the quiz directly in my website so that students don't have to go to proprofs 4. It scores the results 5. After a trial run of posting practice quizzes online my test scores went up by at least 15-20 percent.
Cool

I found a lot of cool sites. The sites I think are most perfect for the level I teach, are http://edublogs.org/ . I am planning on creating a Blog/Website for my classroom and will be using that as part of my project . The other site is http://www.starfall.com/n/level-b/index/load.htm?f. This site could be pretty cool to do with the kids either in the classroom or to have them do at home on our web page.

Okay. One of my web 2.0 sites no longer exists, so I will present a new one.
http://learn.genetics.utah.edu/ - This site has many interactive tutorial on genetics and biology. My favorite one is called "Mouse Party" which teaches students about the effects of drugs on the nervous system.
www.trackclass.com - This site allows students to post their notes, assignments, and due dates. It also has a calender that is compatible with iCal, Outlook, and other calender software. The information can also be accessed via their cell phones.
