here is a picture of the autual trial. This was really horrible how people of a different race were treated. Because, some could say that they got a "fair trial" and other people could say that it's not even a trial because everybody in the town who is on the jury is racist and were brought up that way. Anyway, it's horrible to see and hear over and over again how bad and evil it was

www.sanmarcos.net/ana/Class/Eng2/ScottBoys.jpg [/img] i think that the Scottsboro Boys Trial was incredibly unfair. for one, they were inocent people, who's lives were put to an end because of false accusations. the two women who accused them of rape had accused them to get themselves out of trouble. even if they did hold a trial instead of immediate hangin, the result had been decided before the trial began. The Scottsboro Boys were convicted and sentenced to death - at the first trial. this was mainly due to the fact that the men convicted were black. this event clearly shows the racial issues that were going on during that time. it is hard to imagine that people can be so cruel and one-sided.

A book aimed at younger kids (only 64 pages) was written about the event. It's important that kids learn about racism and stuff early on, I think. So they understand the issue and know that it's still even a problem today, which is so terrible. But we've come a long way since the 30's.

I like Marilyn and Kara's pictures. I think this whole point in our history, though it was an insanely ignorant and stupid time, is really kind of fascinating.
