Salinger uses the museum to show that Holden really isnt ready for the future. he wants everything to stay how it is, like the museum. i like this point of view it makes alot of sense. good point.

tim, wen i picture it i see lots of people with me and little kids being amazed at all the neat little things around and schools on feild trips. kinda like and amusmnet park but more controlled

When Holden's helping the child in Central Park with her skates he feels happy inside and realizes something he likes. Relating to that, he likes being a child again because he was care-free and had acceptions when he got in trouble. It was okay to be dependent.

i agree with tim about Holden being more comfortable around children. I think Holden feels that his "superiors" are always judging him or thinking too much. Then he ends up just acting like he doesn't care, like nothing bothers him.

it makes holden happy to see the children because their innocent and can do no wrong hes so messed up in his thinking that he wants to be like them again and be innocent and loved

i think hes way more comfy with children because they dont care wat people do just as long as there nice

I think when Holden was a kid was when he was happiest in his life. But now hes havimg trouble in his transition into an adult. I think Holden likes children so much because it may get rid of the stress of this transition.
