Share some specifics about your digital strengths and weaknesses. What would you like to learn that you don't know now?

I don't even know the things I don't know - so I'm pretty open to everything. I really want to know how everything we do links to the classroom.

Rating my proficiency is a difficult question because I do have a standard to compare to. In comparison the other staff members at my school I'd say I am proficient with the systems I use. I had a HTML coding issue with my school website recently and I felt like "a deer in the headlight, what am I doing here!" as taken from the poll above. The network shop person Kevin talked to me about it and at least I feel like I understand why some of the text size was 500 instead of 14.

I can relate to Jeff's comments. Compared to most other teachers at my school, I am very proficient. They think that I am a technology wizard! The only "tech" course I ever took was back in my BHS days when I took Introduction to Keyboarding. I basically have learned how to use different technologies by trial and error. I feel proficient in many areas, but there are also areas in which I am not well versed, so like Jeff, I have mixed feelings about how to rate myself.

I think that I proficient and can usually maneuver myself around a web site rather well. In no way do I think I am expert - there are so many things I still need to learn (that's why I'm here!).

Before this class started I felt I had a feeling of being somewhat proficient in computers and was not afraid to try new programs. I felt pretty ahead of the game with most of the teachers at school (except for perhaps Jeff and a few younger teachers). However, now that we are in the midst of this I am feeling pretty overwhelmed with the variety of sites we are using and am struggling to feel proficient at any of them.

Hi. Checking in Saturday afternoon, March 6. I like you feel proficient when surrounded by teacher peers, but in the broader scope of tecnical wizards at large, I still feel at playground status. There's always something that fascinates me that I know too little about. It's an endless growth experience being involved with technology and education.

I am the tech gal on staff, so I am fairly proficient in trouble shooting the basics. I want to learn how to effectively use technology in my classroom to maximize student engagement and students' ability to retain the information. I have four eMacs that are not hooked up in my classroom because my district is a PC district, so I'm trying to find someone that knows enough to hook them up... frustrating! I'm also interested in any short-cuts in programs that we all use often.

I feel that I have more computer skills than many at my school site, but it is an aging group that tend to resist "technological" changes. Heck our Principal has openly stated, [glow=red,2,300]"We will never have Smart Boards when I am here". [/glow]In reality I can usually find my way around or through technology and the issues that come with it. I am open to learning anything that I can apply to teaching. For example using blogs or wikis. In the future I will use a blog or Wiki for class info for students and parents.

I am really very proficient, until I come across something that doesn't work for me (not intuitive in my realm). And Gibbs left off the category $#@!%$# comupters.....

I feel I'm pretty proficient when it comes to finding what I need on the web, but I still need some work with Twitter. I enjoy blogging and working with pictures and video, but I don't usually have the time I would like to play with all of it. Having children and learning a new skill makes for some interesting times!
