I agree with what Nick said about Miss Caroline because he posted that she wouldn't change the story much and won't be a very big character.

mcezh: your point of wiew is very good and I agree with it whole heartly. There are some good points to it. But later on, those "good" points may be contradictied by other more mysteroius ones. ha!!!! You spelled "Cech" wrong. just like to point that out Mr. BARRON! |

All of you are right in any perspective that you took. I agree with all of you. The teacher is important because she gives a view from outside of Maycomb. We as humans only notice change..... hot to cold, cold to colder, hot to hotter. From wherever the teacher lived, to coming into Maycomb and teaching was obviously different. Students there were most likely not aloud to tell the teacher information that she did not already know about, and they probably were not let along with going for a few hours on the first day of school and then leaving no matter who they were and what family they came from. In here i believe that i took that customs in new places that you have never been to is a sensitive matter and you need to listen and not talk and assume that your way is everyway and every where uses your way. If she was not in the story it would be like not knowing the differences between hot and cold.
I don't think that the kids were not allowed to tell the teacher about the town, I just think that they are used to eveyone knowing everything about the town, especialy teachers, who from a first graders point of view know everything there is to know.
Yes, I know, it's just that i dont know. Your point seems to be correct. Maybe it's because everyone is used to everyone and knows what to say about them. to new teachers it would seem disrespectful just because they don't know how it's like and what things to let go. |
