Holden walks to the skate Park thinking that he'd meet his sister there. And seeing all the kids skate there made him happy. He meets someone who knows his sister and she told him where his sister was. So Holden wondered to the museum thinking of kids. He remembered his childhood when he went to the museum. He smiled at the thought. I think that if Holden grew up differently he'd be a better student. So I think that Holden gets along with kids better because talking to kids his age isn't interesting to him because they have jobs. They do well in school. Maybe Holden wishes he was young again.

the museum is important to him because it was probably a big part of his life.i notice he was happy talking about how he went to the museum alot back when he was younger.he also loves being with phoebe because she is very understanding and holden can turn to her when he wants to be with someone and she is always there for him.she actually listens to him not like all the other people because they are so annoyed by him and think that whatever he says doesn't make sense because he changes his subject form one to the other.

I feel he enjoys the museum because it brings back happy mempries before he started to fail at well, life. He just enjoys remenising about the old days with the unchanging surroundings of the museum. He may not notice but the world is better in the past than the present becuase he probably forgot all the bad stuff he complains about all the time. Trully those things don't really matter to him that much which is why he trully is a good person under all the bad things he says about people.

i think he likes childern. He feels like they have to do what he says and he is older and superior. He remembers when he was little walking through the mueseum. I think he likes it since it brings his memories and makes him feel at peace.

Holden likes the museum so much because everything doesn't change there. In some sort of way he probably wishes that his life wouldn't change either because he is afraid of the uncoming challenges and problems he will have to face growing up.

his memories of when he was younger make him happy and his sister makes him happy so obviously he doesn't hold things against children. he doesn't judge them or criticize them as much as people the same age or older than him. he seems to like helping kids since they are so innocent and the museum probably reminds him of a better time of his life. it symbolizes something simple in all the chaos. a very consice and well thought out response to the question! ^-^

I think Holden likes the Museum because It's a place where nothing changes and you learn a lot without being graded. He probably also liked the museum a lot because theres nobody he knows like his parents or teachers telling him what to do. Kind of wierd that of all places he likes a museum.

I think he really likes children. He seems more comfortable around them than his superiors. With the museum, he describes how he felt as a kid walking through the corridors of that moseleum of artifacts. And the skates give him a sense of peace. When he sees his sister skate, he is happy. I find it rather interesting that you say he likes children a lot. I thought of it more as a place where Holden can go to be free and enjoy himself.

[glow=purple,2,300]I think Holden hates change. I think when he was a kid, he didn't have to worry about much. He could just go skate around Central Park, look at ducks, and visit the museum. Then all of a sudden all his comforts were gone when his parents sent him off to private schools. This I think scared Holden because he doesn't like change and this was brand new. So I think he thought that by rebelling and getting kicked out of school his parents would realize those schools were not the place for Holden and he would get to go back to his old life. Instead, they sent him to new school after new school.
As for kids. I don't necessarily think Holden loves kids. I think he likes the idea of kids. The idea that kids can do whatever they want with not many consequences. They get to skate in the park, look at ducks, and visit the museum - all stuff he used to do. So I think when he sees a kid, that kid in some way reminds Holden of himself as a kid. It brings back memories of all the comforts he had before he had to grow up and be sent off to school.[/glow]

i think Holden likes the musem so much because it never changes.. History never changes. I think he oesn't see history as anything phony or as something he dislikes because its so important. i think Holden really only dislikes things that don't really matter or aren't that important. as everyone as already said i agree that Holden enjoys children. I think he enjoys their company only to an extent thought. I think Holden likes them more than adults because they don't try to impress people as much as adults. i think Holden enjoys their company until they start to annoying and in a sense ACT LIKE CHILDREN haha

i think it says that there actually was a point in time when Holden was happy or HAPPIER, maybe before his brother died. But then life became this depressing thing for him. it was no longer any fun or carefree. He had good memories but now all he can think about is how phony people are. He misses the stability in his life and can't seem to get it back

i agree with lagrimas because this was the one time in holden's life when he felt happy. He misses the balance in his life.

Christa, for a follow up on what Jennifer said, i think that Holden ids afraid of change because every time something in his life has taken a turn it has been for the worst. Really nothing good has happened to him from what he has told us. besides a few people like Jane and Phoebe.
